Team matching for accelerators and hackathons

Find the people you build best with.

Albrat pairs cohort members on two things at once: the skills they bring, and the way they actually work with people. Set up before kickoff, live all the way to demo day.

The problem

Great teams are decided in the first two hours.

At most programmes, team formation is a crowded room, a wall of sticky notes and forty-five minutes of nerve. People end up building with whoever they happened to be standing next to.

Two days later the mismatch is obvious, and by then the deadline is not moving. At pre-seed there is no traction to point at yet, so investors and accelerator partners fall back on the same question: is this the team that can actually ship it? Every programme says the team matters more than the idea. The team is still the part left to chance.

How it works

Four stages, from invite to demo day

Full walkthrough
  1. 1
    Before the competition

You build a profile, not a CV

Join through an organiser invite or by scanning the QR code at the venue, then tell us what you can do and how you work.

  2. 2
    During team formation

Check in and meet your shortlist

You scan in at the door and Albrat surfaces the handful of people you are most compatible with, with a chatroom already open.

  3. 3
    During the competition

Short pulse check-ins keep teams honest

Regular, 30-second feedback prompts track how collaboration is actually going while there is still time to fix it.

  4. 4
    After the competition

    Your track record follows you

Points from feedback, connections and participation build a credibility score you carry into the next cohort.

Skills + personality matching

Compatibility is scored on two axes: what you can build, and how you work with people. Personality carries real weight. It is not a tiebreaker.

Mini-IPIP personality test

Twenty questions, about three minutes, scored on the Big Five. A published, validated short form, not a quiz we invented.

Explainable matches

Every suggestion comes with its reasoning: which skills overlap, which traits align, which ones usefully complement yours.

QR check-in unlocks the event

Scan at registration and the attendee pool opens. Only people physically at the event can appear in your shortlist.

A shortlist, not a feed

You get 5% of the room, minimum three people, with chatrooms already open. Small enough that you actually talk to all of them.

Pulse feedback during the build

Short check-ins across the programme show how collaboration is trending while there is still time to change something.

The personality side

Skills say what you can build. Personality says who you can build it with.

Albrat uses the Mini-IPIP, a published 20-item short form of the Big Five, to build a compact personality profile in about three minutes.

Four questions per trait, half of them reverse-worded so the test catches people answering on autopilot. Your raw scores stay private. What other participants see is the fit: which traits you share, which ones usefully balance each other, and which pairing is worth a conversation before you commit to a team for the whole batch.

Social proof

What we expect to hear

Placeholder quotes while our first pilots run. Real names and photos replace these once the first cohort reaches demo day.

Team formation used to eat the whole first morning of the batch. We want it to take twenty minutes and produce better teams.

Programme directorInnovation academy

I can read a CV. What I cannot read is whether two people will still be talking to each other on day four.

MentorPre-seed accelerator

I joined a team because they were sitting near the coffee. We shipped something. It could have gone a lot better.
